Resolution
Mid-way through the Korean War, peace talks were in progress. The two sides could not seem to negotiate a solution. While the negotiations were taking place, the 2 sides still fought each other and eventually turned into a stalemate. On April of 1953, an armistice was signed between the 2 nations. The armistice said that it would end the fighting but Korea will remain divided on the 38th parallel.
The Effects of the Resolution
The armistice did not solve anything; it just stopped the shooting between the 2 nations. There was no political solution enforced and furthermore, there was no peace treaty signed. Today, Korea still remains divided and there is still tension between North Korea and South Korea. The resolution only stopped the war and fighting between the 2 nations but it did not solve the conflict behind it.
Implications
The implications I can draw about the role of the resolution was that I think the resolution did not solve anything. I think it was a good thing that it stopped the Korean War and it stopped the shooting among the 2 nations. Either than that I think that the armistice did not solve anything. It did not reunite North and South Korea and it did not really make any peace between the 2 nations. Today, both North and South Korea still have tension between each other. I feel that the resolution only solved the problem of the fighting during the Korean War between the years of 1950 to 1953 but it did not solve the tension between the 2 nations and neither reunited Korea once again.
